Mobile-izing Your Association
Four ways to experiment with mobile technology.
Do you ever watch 80s movies? You have to laugh when a character pulls out a cell phone. You remember!those big, bulky phones that came in a carrying case? Today’s mobile phones are multi-media devices that fundamentally redefine communication. Here are four experiments that can help your association make the most out of mobile.
1. Broadcast Text Alerts
Reach members who don’t have desk jobs, ask members to call their congressman, or communicate with attendees at an event.
2. SMS Polling/Text-to-Screen
Great for events—get instant feedback from attendees at a general session, showcase community chatter in public, find out what really matters to your stakeholders.
3. Mobile Fundraising
When donating five dollars is as easy as sending a text message, how much money could you raise?
4. Backchannel/Text Groups
Texting unleashed. A text group allows any group member to send a text message to the entire group. It’s noisy!but for the right people, it creates real community.
Mobile Tool Talk
Experimenting with mobile communications has never been easier or more affordable. We’ve put together a list of free and low-cost mobile communications tools for you to try.
