Every organization should be looking for ways to leverage mobile technology. It’s time to start experimenting with lots of different techniques. Here is a list of tools you might choose to start your experiments.

Broadcast Text Alerts

SMS Polling/Text-to-Screen

  • PollEverywhere—a simple text-to-screen voting application that works well for live audiences.
  • iWall—an affordable text-to-screen software tool.
  • Twitter—if you have an active community using Twitter, you might want to experiment with TwitterFountain or TweetChat.

Mobile Fundraising

  • mGive—a service that allows your stakeholders to donate money to your organization by texting a keyword to a shortcode.

Backchannel/Text Groups

  • Mozeo—a free group texting service.
  • WeTxt—free group texting service with an event calendar component.
  • Zemble—a free group texting service with a community component.
  • Broadtexter—a free group texting service that also serves as a mobile fan club.
