A really good – and important – closing thought about BlogPotomac from DCMediaMakers co-founder and Twitter buddy Jill Foster (filmed by Terri Holley @creativeblogs).
Lindy and I also, like Jill, attended all three BlogPotomacs, and it’s a little bit of a wistful moment for me to think about our newbieness at the first one compared to now, and how BlogPotomac played a part in our own professional development. Geoff Livingston, the organizer, commented in his closing remarks that when we all came together at the very first one we collectively had a bit of “Silicon Valley-envy” at the tech community they had out west which was richly layered with online discussion and conversation – I totally agree with him that we now have just as vibrant a community over here with a quite different and really gamechanging focus on social good, the nonprofit and association space, and Government 2.0. I think his goal to have BlogPotomac help connect people in this community has absolutely been reached and I for one am grateful to have met so many awesome people through BlogPotomac.
In that spirit, there are a couple of events in DC coming up to note – so we can keep the party going – (and I hope if anyone knows of others that they will post in the comments!):
Tweetsgiving, November 24th – jointly hosted by YAP, SMC-DC and DC Concierge and other DC NP-techers. Save the date; we’ll send out more info soon.
And just announced, the Nonprofit 2.0 unconference – February 12. Definitely one to mark on your calendars!

Hey Maddie – Thanks very much for sharing the video and celebrating Blogpotomac with your reflections. Whatta fine trilogy of events.
To add to your mention of events – you’re always welcome at DC Media Makers at NPR (…free, fun, monthly talks & collaborations on digital tech). We meet tonight actually – chocolate will be served(!)
Hope you’re good.
