Tool Talk: quick links re Facebook, GReader and GWave

Just clearing out my Google Reader for stuff I have been meaning to write about or share. Instead, these posts do it better. Here’s some good stuff from the past few days on…

Facebook

New Views for Your Home Page (The Facebook Blog)

Facebook’s New NewsFeed: A Big Shot Fired in The War Against Information Overload (ReadWriteWeb)

Enhanced Facebook Groups – What they mean for your non-profit’s cause (John Haydon)

Bonus: How to build a Facebook community (14 “levers” you need to be pulling) (John Haydon)

Google Reader

Reading gets personal with Popular items and Personalized ranking (Google Reader Blog)

Google Reader’s Magic Finds Personalized Highlights In Feeds (Louis Gray)

Google Reader Adds Magic to Your Feeds (Mashable)

Bonus: Got an iPhone? Finding it hard to separate signal from noise in your Google Reader and/or overwhelmed by too much to read? Try my6sense – it imports subscriptions from your Google Reader, and, over time, learns by something magick called “Digital Intuition” what the most relevant content is for you. You can share posts from it just like you can through GR. It takes a little getting used to, especially if you obsessively go through everything, as there’s no “mark all as read” button – it literally picks out for you with uncanny skill the things you will be especially interested in. I tend to use it while I’m reading stuff before bed, so I save items in my “mystream” to share at a more reasonable hour – the only downside right now is that it does not yet sync with GR, but that’s coming up in a future release.

Google Wave

(note – I got an invite, but am not yet “in” to Google Wave, so none of these are tested by me.)

Google Wave 101 (Lifehacker)

How to Add Twitter to Google Wave (Daggle.com)

Three Google Wave Searches Worth Saving (Smarterware)

Shortcuts and Searches in Google Wave (Fors)

Bonus: Not about Wave, but about Tasks – Manage Your Tasks with Google (Official Google Blog)

Enjoy!
