I’m excited to let you know about a free three-part webcast series hosted by TMA Resources on the topic of relevance in associations.

Here’s the scoop – three webcasts at 2 pm EST, one on February 25 (this Thursday!), the second on March 16, and the third on March 31.  And oh look!  Some familiar faces will be part of it…!!

“These three conversations will explore the challenges associations face in a world of hyper-available information, the struggle to become the anchor of community life in the minds of constituents, and the many options available for restoring the prominence of associations as the premier source of information and connectedness.”

I think this is going to be pretty cool.  For a start, this webcast series idea was inspired by Jamie’s totally awesome post Relevance is Not Enough. Secondly, it’s a webcast, with us live on screen, which is scary (from our point of view) and yet perfect (from your point of view) as you can watch us squirm as you throw heavy questions at us from the Twitter stream (hashtag is #beyondrelevance) and whatever else they will be doing to monitor questions.  LOL!

Seriously though, the conversation will go from high-level “what does it mean for associations to be more than just relevant?” through to practical ideas about this topic over the course of the three webcasts (I’m on the third one, in case you were wondering.  Miz “Just Get Crackin’”, that’s me.)  I’m hoping to learn from all the participants whether relevance is something that is actively on the radar at their associations (and even whether it should be?)  I hope you guys will come and join us, especially everyone who chimed in on this Acronym post on the subject!  It would be great to get a good debate going!

There’s also a blog accompanying the webcast series, so we’ll see if this conversation has some traction after the fact.  Either way, I’m tuning in at 2  pm this Thursday.  You know Jeff, he’s bound to argue with someone; it’s going to be awesome. I hope you’ll join me to watch the drama unfold!
