Just out a few days ago: The Altimeter Group (Charlene Li and Jeremiah Owyang’s outfit) Report on The 18 Use Cases of SocialCRM, The New Rules of Relationship Management. Brian Solis has a good summary of this here. One could argue that associations are ultimately in the CRM business; take a look at the 18 business cases identified and see if any of these make sense for your association.

Ugh. Just ugh. These guys are really smart–I love Jeremiah’s blog, and his “Punked List” that is mentioned in this report–but I’m not convinced that this paper gives us the kind of information that will really help us understand how to take steps toward implementing the elusive social CRM.
Market Demand Index? Tech Maturity Index? Really? Maybe if they had entitled this “Social CRM: An environmental scan for enterprise customers” or something along those lines…
Am I off base here? Help me out.
