YouTube now gives you superhuman power

by John Haydon on August 11, 2010

If your nonprofit uses YouTube videos to promote your cause, you’ll appreciate the channel upgrades announced last Friday.

  1. Sorting Videos Within “My Videos”: Within your “My Videos” page, you’ll notice that you can now sort videos by date, alphabetical order, length and views.
  2. Insights Access: Also available on your “My Videos” page is YouTube Insights, which by the way are downloadable as CSV files.
  3. Promotional badges: YouTube now has some pretty sweet looking badges you can use to promote your YouTube channel. Learn more about adding YouTube videos to your website over at the YouTube blog.
  4. Transparent Annotations: The background behind annotated text is now transparent. This allows text to better stand out within your video.
  5. New way to embed videos: A new embed code style enables you to view embedded videos in one of our Flash or HTML5 players, depending on your viewing environment and preferences. For more information, see this blog post from our API blog. Learn more about adding YouTube videos to your website over at the YouTube blog.

Finally, if you want to learn more about how to use YouTube – in addition to Facebook, Twitter and WordPress – subscribe to my YouTube Channel. :-)
