Datalicious: Recent Studies of Note

Just wanted to quickly point to a couple of recent studies you might be interested in.

First, Beth Kanter points to a Foundation Center study on Social Media Use By Foundation Leaders: “The report outlines which social media services are used regularly or occasionally by foundation leaders, which blogs are read by CEOs and how often, the perceived usefulness of Web 2.0 in philanthropic work, and highlights the social media activity of two “power users†in the field.”  Interesting stuff!

Even more interesting – she references a site that shows the online communications sites for 710 foundations.  Holy Awesome, Batman!  At some point I should take a closer look at the list and see if I can find any patterns – not that I particularly have a “research brain”.  If anyone feels like doing some analysis like that, I’d be happy to post what you come up with here!

Secondly, here’s a slide deck about a Pew Internet Research study about “trends in mobile internet access, e-reader and tablet computer use, and mobile apps” in conjunction with a talk given to the Arizona State Library’s E-Reader Summit.

There’s a ton of good info in here, but take a look at my two favorite slides:

Check out the full slide deck to see how they get to these towards the end (slides 52 and 53).  Nice conclusions for any organization, methinks!
