The Engage365 Case Study

by Maddie Grant on September 7, 2010

As you know, we’re all about openness, so when I saw Chris Uschan post this Empowering Event Professionals to Explore Social Media: The Engage365 Case Study with a run-down of the thinking behind Engage365 and the process that Omnipress went through in building this great community, I couldn’t wait to share it.

On the one hand, Omnipress wanted to promote and spread the word about their new Conference 2.0 platform. On the other, they saw how people were searching for information about social media around conferences and events and knew they had the ability (with our help and other association and meetings industry connections) to find the right people to kick-start a community, using their own platform, where they could aggregate this kind of content and provide a really valuable service to the associations and meetings industries.

We (SocialFish) were involved at the conception and launch stages, helping identify thought leaders to invite into the site, organize the design and usability of the platform, develop a launch plan and ongoing editorial calendar, Twitter chat and webinar schedule (content and resources being top priority). We were community managers (which we won’t do for everyone as we believe you have to be part of the member community to be effective – and in this case we could be part of it, as people who plan meetings and educational offerings). We kept a watchful an eye on the conversations happening inside the site, and we were evangelists, promoting the site through our networks (especially on Twitter – we still use the #engage365 hashtag for any good links to do with social media for events – check out the search now, tons of good stuff rolling in all the time)!

Check out Chris’ post for lots more details and stats. The team at Omnipress has been amazing to work with, really embracing the idea of being generative, open to all kinds of feedback from us and their community, always evolving, and putting people and relationships first.

We’re so happy to have been part of the team getting the community off the ground and SO EXCITED that they are so awesome that they have been nominated for a FORRESTER GROUNDSWELL AWARD.  If you are at all interested in social media for events, check Engage365 out, see what the Conference 2.0 platform is all about – maybe it could be the perfect thing for “socializing” your next conference or event! – and please vote for them for the Groundswell Award!

Congrats to Chris, David, Steve, and all the great team at Omnipress. Rock on!
