What does YOUR Open Community look like?

The countdown begins… our book is out November 1!

Forgive us for what’s sure to be a big promo push to spread the word about our little book, Open Community, which is about to come out in less than two weeks.  we want you to help us start the conversation!

In the book, we define the concept of Open Community and dig into five elements that we believe are crucial to understand in order to successfully build relationships and build community online in the digital age.

Who the book is for

We’ve written Open Community for mid-level and senior leaders in associations who are working together to build community online.

What the book is about

The book covers social media concepts that can make or break your community. We’re “lobbing little thought grenades.” Whether or not we blow your mind, you’ll definitely find some useful nuggets, in a short, airplane read.

How the book is to be used

Open Community is a conversation starter. We’ll be looking to YOU to continue the discussion here on our SocialFish site and in a variety of other online and offline places.  We’ll want to know if you agree with our analysis of what an Open Community is and what elements are crucial to its success, and we’ll be eager to hear your interpretations of how you’re developing Open Communities across the association / nonprofit industry.  We’ll want you to push our ideas further and to show us what’s happening out there in the real world!

We know you haven’t actually read the book yet, of course, but we’d like everyone to start thinking about how you would describe the community around your organizations.  Who’s in your ecosystem?  Are there lines being blurred, internally or externally?  How do you recognize the most active, engaged members of your community?  How do you manage the relationships between homebase and outposts?  We’ll be asking these and many more questions of you once the book is out and we hope you’ll share your experiences as you move your organizations towards a new way of communicating, collaborating and cultivating YOUR Open Community in order to advance your mission.
