Social Media and Governance

I really like this slide deck by Beth Kanter, that she used to present to a group of nonprofit execs at the BoardSource conference. Read the full description of her talk here.

A lot of the work Lindy and I do is about “social media governance” – specifically, helping organizations set up the internal processes and structures necessary to do social media management work strategically. I’m curious, are your association or nonprofit boards talking about these issues?

I’m working with a builder and using Facebook to help them develop community engagement (people don’t buy a house from the “corporate” face – they buy it from the salesperson). Governance is key here since they’re all in different places. Knowing the rules and then adhering to them is imperative.

Just my thoughts.
