Hat Tip to Dave Larson for the fab infographic below.
Note to certain conferences that shall remain nameless (because it’s many of those that I have presented at in the last 3 years) – if I am a speaker at your conference, that does NOT give you permission to add me to all of your spam exhibitor/vendor/promo/marketing lists. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I will ruthlessly report all of those emails as spam, even though I know it’s like emptying the ocean with a sieve.
I heard someone say the other day, “I would join that association, but the last thing I need is more email”. And it’s not the first time I’ve heard that! In fact, here’s a new business model for ya: instead of charging dues, why not charge a “no association spam” fee. I would pay for this, as a member. Really I would. If your stuff is worth it, it will find me and I will find it.
That’s just one of my great ideas from Great Ideas!
In the meantime, I’ve installed Unsubscribe and my Priority Inbox is the best thing since sliced bread. I’m one step closer to a moratorium on email… just you wait.
