Platlas is a clickable map (“atlas”) of Facebook, created by Carrot Creative, which allows you to visualize – as a marketer – all of the different ways that people interact with Facebook. As we all know, Facebook is crazily complex and annoying in a million ways – but since your people are on it, you gotta be there.
The video below explains the following in more detail, but basically it maps out, through concentric circles, the interactions an individual user can have (and therefore potential marketing touchpoints) inside Facebook and the actions that user can take related to each interaction. For you visual thinkers, this could help you spot gaps in how you’re building organizational relationships on Facebook. It also explains very well (with the little “info” pop-ups) the specific functionality of every possible action. I need to dig into this more, maybe with a specific organization or specific project in mind, but I think this is pretty awesome – check it out.
And look out for future versions for Twitter and other social networks.
