The state of community management 2013

You should be aware that it was Community Manager Appreciation Day on the fourth Monday of January.  So there are a bunch of community management-related stats to share.

First, check out Jeremiah Owyang’s 10 Key Stats of the Community Manager Space #CMAD:

Here’s one of my favorite #CMAD infographics by GetSatisfaction:

And another one with some stats by Social Fresh, who luckily see a whole bunch of upward trends compared to last year and the year before, in gender equality, salaries, and average age.

In other news, we just kicked off our Private Community Management Certificate Program this week and we’ll be discussing all of this stuff.  Contact us if you’re interested on being on the list to be notified about registration opening for next semester!

Thanks for the terrific compilation. I particularly enjoyed the many hats (too true)! I was surprised by the ranking of some of the community manager key skills. In particular, I wonder why technical skills weren’t ranked higher, as community managers are frequently troubleshooting user problems and acting as go-between from IT team to users. I’m curious to see if content curation won’t become continually more important, as providing key quality information on a topic is increasingly necessary as a content strategy. As the eyes and ears of the community, it would seem community managers are ideally suited to the role of curator.
