These are turbulent times, and I think many of us feel pretty powerless (no matter which side of the fence we’re on). So while we can’t fix politics (or maybe we can, but that’s a topic for a different kind of blog), we CAN focus on the things that matter to us directly. Our communities, our friends, our neighbors, our colleagues… and our work.
This is one specific area where we can make a difference. I believe very strongly that every person has the capacity to feel passion and purpose for their work, and every organization has the ability to define and authentically describe “what it’s like here” in a way that will attract the people who belong in that place. Work matters. It matters for our sense of identity and place in the world.
